24. HONGU-NO-IZUMI SPRING

Hongu-no-Izumi Spring, which gushes out about 30,000 tons of water daily, is one of the best-known springs in Yodoe Town. The locals and people from other prefectures come here for water.

本宮の泉は、１日３万トンの水量を誇る淀江町の名泉の一つです。県外からも観光客が訪れる人気の湧き水です。

 

It was chosen for Inhaku no Meisui (one of the best waters in the Inhaku region)” by Tottori Prefecture. 

昭和６０年には鳥取県の「因伯の名水」にも指定されました。

 

This is the only place in Tottori where the semi-tropical plant Kuriharan (Neocheiropteris ensata) grows.

また鳥取県西部で唯一、亜熱帯植物「クリハラン」が自生しているところでもあります。

Yodoe Acorn Village (also known as Yodoe Donguri Mura) is located along the main route toward  Daisenji Temple, which is 900 meters away from the main spring. 

淀江どんぐり村は、本宮の泉から900m離れた大山観光道路沿い、目の前に雄大な大山を望む本宮展望駐車場の一角にあります。

 

Hongu Observation Parking, where the Yodoe Acorn Village is located, has a magnificent view of Mt. Daisen and is perfect for photo shooting with the mountain in the background.

Inside the building of Yodoe Acorn Village, a variety of specialty foods, and local vegetables and fruits are sold.

少しでも多くの人に名水のおいしさを味わってもらおうと、数百メートル離れた水源から、わざわざこの場所にまで水を引いています。

 

Jizotaki-no-Izumi Spring is another famous spring alongside the Sada River, located about five kilometers from the Hongu-no-Izumi Spring. It was chosen as the Inhaku no Meisui (one of the best waters in the Inhaku Region) in 1991 and one of the 100 best waters in the Heisei period in 2008.

地蔵滝の泉は、本宮の泉から5km離れた名水スポットで、佐陀川ほとりにあり、平成３年『因伯の名水』、平成20年環境省「平成の名水百選」に選ばれました。

 

Zizotaki-no-Izumi Spring is located along Daisen Road (also known as Maruyama Road). It has been known as a place for pilgrims, cattle, and horses to rest, quench their thirst, recover energy, and head for Daisenji Temple. It is still a source of water for nearby towns today.

地蔵滝の泉は、大山道（丸山道）沿いにあって、古くから参詣者や博労、牛馬が立ち寄って喉を潤し、気力回復して大山寺をめざす憩いの場として知られた名泉「利生水」で、現在も町の水源となっています。

 

The stone statues next to the water is drawn from are called Zizo Bosatsu. Devotees of the Daisen faith erected there to pray for the safety of pilgrims and animals on the way.

その傍らに佇む地蔵菩薩の石像は、参詣者や牛馬の道中の安全を願って、大山信仰の厚信者によって建てられたものです。
