About

The name of the area where Tai-no-Kama Swamp is located is called “Fukui”, but it used to be “Tai Village” until it was renamed in 1749.

Tai-no-Kama is a very deep swamp. Some people even believe that it is bottomless. The legend says it is connected to the Iwa-no-Hana-no-Ike Lake, Shiokawa River in the Konami area, and even Anagatawa. For more about Anagatawa, refer to the information in the Quiz Commentary.

There was abundant water gushing from this swamp, reaching the Uda River at its end. However, in the 1950s, spring water was pumped out for the water supply, and the amount of water decreased gradually. This even affected the life cycle of water plants such as Hoteiaoi, known as the Common Water Hyacinth.

It is a precious swamp to see the changes in the Yodoe Plain since ancient times.

【Correct Answer】K.Mt. Koreisan (孝霊山)

It is said that the Tai-no-Kama is a bottomless swamp and is connected to the depression called Anagatawa in the middle of Mt. Kourei. The legend says that one day, a calf suddenly appeared from this swamp, and people thought it must have fallen into the depression of Anagatawa.

This is also believed to be connected to “Iwa-no-Hana-no-Ike Lake” north of Mt. Tsubnokame and Shiokawa River in the Konami area. Another legend says that a baked mochi accidentally dropped in this swamp was found floating at the Iwa-no-Hana-no-Ike lake.
