About

The Mukouyama Burial Mounds consist of sixteen mounds plus Ishiumadani Burial Mound nearby. These are spread between Mt. Mukouyama and Mt. Tsubokamemyama, located on the east side of Yodoe Plain.

向山遺跡群は、淀江平野の東部の独立丘陵の向山(むこうやま)と瓶山(かめやま)にある古墳16基、及び福岡集落の南にある石馬谷(いしうまだに)古墳からなる古墳群です。

 

Nine Zempou Kouenfun (keyhole-shaped burial mounds), five Enfun (round burial mounds), and one Houfun (square burial mound) are in this park.

前方後円墳9基、円墳5基、方墳2基からなります。

 

This is the largest group of burial mounds for leaders in the Hoki area in Tottori. They were constructed between the late 5th century and the late 6th century.

伯耆地方最大の首長の墓群で、5世紀末~6世紀末にかけて築造されました。

 

Among them, there are known burial mounds such as Ishiumadani Burial Mound (the “Ishiuma” statue was put on the top of this mound), Iwaya Burial Mound (artifacts such as water bird and human Haniwa were found here), and Chojaganaru Burial Mound (gold and copper accessories were found here).

中には、かつて石馬が設置されていた石馬谷古墳、水鳥や人型の形象埴輪の見つかった岩屋古墳、金銅の装飾品などが発見された長者ヶ平古墳(ちょうじゃがなるこふん)などがあります。
